Are loaner vehicles available if my vehicle needs service?
Connecticut law does not require a dealer or repairer to provide a consumer with a loaner vehicle while the consumer's vehicle is being repaired.

However, we do have a fleet of 3 loaner cars that we provide for our customers, under our discretion, if they are available.

What will you do with my email address?
Car City of Danbury respects all of our customer's privacy, because of that we will never sell, trade, or disclose email addresses or private and/or sensitive information submitted on our site.

Is shuttle service available if I need to leave my vehicle at your location?
Yes

What does True Mileage Unknown mean?
This could be because of mechanical failure such as an odometer gauge that not longer illuminates, a broken or disconnected speedometer cable, a dashboard or instrument cluster that has been changed, or someone tampering with the odometer.

Also, older vehicles used to have a 5 digit odometer and roll over at 99,999 miles; newer odometers have 6 digit odometers, meaning that they roll over at 999,999 miles. Some states have laws that after 10 – 12 years all vehicles sold are “mileage exempt,” meaning that that particular state no longer keeps an accurate record of the mileage, which would also turn a vehicles title into “true mileage unknown,” even if there are no mechanical failures or signs of tampering.

Additionally there are vehicles that are “accidently” TMU’ed, simply because of carelessness as a result of filing paperwork incorrectly.

Ask your sales person why this particular vehicle is TMU, and if possible we will try to document what we believe the correct mileage might be.

Continuously variable transmission
A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is a transmission which can change steplessly through an infinite number of effective gear ratios between maximum and minimum values. This contrasts with other mechanical transmissions that only allow a few different distinct gear ratios to be selected. The flexibility of a CVT allows the driving shaft to maintain a constant angular velocity over a range of output velocities. This can provide better fuel economy than other transmissions by enabling the engine to run at its most efficient revolutions per minute (RPM) for a range of vehicle speeds.

Tiptronic Transmission
A Tiptronic transmission can operate just as the common type of automatic transmission, but it also allows the driver to override the automatic mode by moving the shift lever into a second (Tiptronic) shift gate equipped with two spring-loaded positions: "upshift" and "downshift". Once in this gate, the driver takes over most of the shifting decisions ordinarily performed by the transmissions computer, permitting, for example, the delaying of an upshift for increased acceleration or explicitly commanding a downshift to increase the braking effect of the engine. On some cars, the upshift and downshift operations can also be commanded by pushbuttons or rocker switches installed on the steering wheel and a display commonly indicates the current gear selection.

Compressed natural gas
Compressed natural gas (CNG) is a fossil fuel substitute for gasoline (petrol), diesel, or propane/LPG. Although its combustion does produce greenhouse gases, it is a more environmentally clean alternative to those fuels, and it is much safer than other fuels in the event of a spill (natural gas is lighter than air, and disperses quickly when released).

What is a conveyance fee?
A "conveyance fee" is a charge for processing/ preparation/ service fee charged by most dealers to help pay for administrative, paperwork, document, and other various costs.

Do I have to purchase a warranty in order to finance this vehicle?
The short answer is NO, you do not have to purchase a warranty in order to finance a vehicle with us. The "smart answer" is YES!

Our lenders sometimes are willing to offer better interest rates, longer loans, and/or lower down payments if a warranty is purchased. Banks realize that if you buy a used vehicle and something were to mechanically fail on the vehicle a customer is a lot less likely to complete the loan if the car is not running. Buying a warranty usually will prevent this from happening.

What is Gap Insurance?
Gap insurance covers the difference between what the car is worth and what you owe on the car. It comes into play if the car is stolen or totaled (damaged to the point that repair would cost more than the car is worth) while the owner is still making payments.

You are not required to purchase GAP insurance, however it is a VERY wise move, since you never know what might happen. The worst thing in the world is to have something happen to your vehicle and still owe several thousand dollars or more and no longer even have the vehicle to drive.

How do you determine the required down payment?
This is the number one question that we receive, unfortunately there is no set answer to this question. Down payment requirements vary based on numerous factors.

A person with fair to good credit, (625+ credit score, previous vehicle financing/ leasing, no repossessions, and a credit history of more than 3 years) can qualify for $0.00 down payments, while a person with bad credit or no credit will have to have a down payment of 15% - 35% of the vehicles asking price, or $1,000 whichever is higher.

How do I know what A.P.R. I will get?
The interest rate that you will have varies based upon several factors:
- Your previous credit experiences
- The amount of money you intend on borrowing
- The year of the vehicle you want to purchase
- The length of the loan, (in months)
- The state the you live in
For comparison purposes, use several different rates.

Why do you need my social security number?
In order for use to fully qualify you for a loan, our lenders ask for your social security number to check your previous credit history.

If you are unwilling to submit your social security number over the internet you can request a call from one of our staff, who will take your information via the telephone, or you can stop in to our dealership and fill out the application in person.

What type of employee am I?
W2 Employee Receives a constant pay stub, showing all local, state and federal tax deductions.

Personal Check Receives a personal or business check that is hand written from the employer, with no tax deductions showing.

Cash Payments Does not receive a pay check, all income is in cash. (Examples: waitress/waiter, bar tender, landscaper, hair dresser.)

Temp Service Works through staffing or placement agency and is not a direct employee of the company they currently work at.

What does Gross Income mean?
Gross weekly income is the amount of money a person makes before taxes, health care expenses and other amenities are taken out.

Do not include additional sources of income such as child support, alimony, unemployment, or any lawsuit settlement money.

Why do you need to know which type of bank accounts I have?
Some of our lenders require automatic withdrawals for monthly/ weekly car payments directly from a bank account; therefore we ask this question to determine what lenders we are able to submit your application to for approval.

Estimated monthly payment
Select the maximum amount of money that you would comfortably be able to pay each month towards a car payment.

(Be sure not to forget the additional costs involved in financing such as auto insurance, and unexpected repairs.)

Trade In Condition
"Excellent" Means that the vehicle looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. The vehicle has never had any paint or body work and is free of rust. The vehicle has a clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection. The engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects. The vehicle also has complete and verifiable service records. (Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.)

"Good" Means that the vehicle is free of any major defects. This vehicle has a clean title history, the paint, body and interior have only minor (if any) blemishes, and there are no major mechanical problems. There should be little or no rust on this vehicle. The tires match and have substantial tread wear left. A "good" vehicle will need some reconditioning to be sold at retail. Most consumer owned vehicles fall into this category.

"Fair" Means that the vehicle has some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition. This vehicle has a clean title history, the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional. The tires may need to be replaced. There may be some repairable rust damage.

"Poor" Means that the vehicle has severe mechanical and/or cosmetic defects and is in poor running condition. The vehicle may have problems that cannot be readily fixed such as a damaged frame or a rusted-through body. A vehicle with a branded title (salvage, flood, etc.) or unsubstantiated mileage is considered "poor." A vehicle in poor condition may require an independent appraisal to determine its value. Kelley Blue Book does not attempt to report a value on a "poor" vehicle because the value of cars in this category varies greatly.

Employed (Gets W2) Works full or part time directly for an employer, receives pay stubs or income proofs showing FICA tax deductions.

Self-Employed (No W-2) Works for themselves, or as an independent contractor and is responsible to pay their own taxes.

Fixed Income Receives a steady stream of income without tax deductions. (Examples: Alimony, retirement, pension, disability, or social security recipient.)

Unemployed Receives unemployment benefits or a person receiving no income.
